The main pool at the midrange family-friend Febri’s has a nice design and offers a lot of natural shade.
Febri’s Hotel & Spa – Functional and convenient midrange family option.
Located in the heart of Tuban (also called South Kuta), this modest hotel is only a short stroll from two malls, the Waterbom waterpark, and Tuban beach, and barely a kilometer from downtown Kuta. Rooms, all in motel-style blocks well away from the busy road, are simple but certainly comfortable, and feature wide patios/balconies. The large pool at the front features elephant spouts and welcome shade from frangipani bushes, while another smaller one is set further back from the road. Considerably more affordable than most in the region, Febri’s caters well for families, with rooms for up to five, a (tiny) playground, a (large) pool, and an ideal location.

Febri’s Hotel & Spa – Local Transport
- Walking: Walkable to everything that Tuban and Kuta have to offer.
- Public Transport: In lieu of any public transport, the Kura-Kura Bus company links Tuban and Kuta with Ubud and the rest of southern Bali, but schedules are convoluted and routes confusing.
- Cars, Motorbikes, & Taxis: To go anywhere within southern Bali, hire metered taxis which are abundant, cheap, and comfortable. For longer distances, organize a chartered car with driver (for a negotiable fare) at the hotel. Driving a car is not recommended anywhere in Bali, and renting one in Tuban/Kuta is madness. Motorbikes are easy to rent and useful for getting around the backstreets of Tuban/Kuta/Legian but not so elsewhere in southern Bali.
- Shuttle Bus: To reach another town outside of southern Bali, e.g. Ubud, buy a ticket at a travel agency for a shuttle bus. The main operator, Perama, offers many services from its office on Jalan Legian street in Kuta.

Febri’s Hotel & Spa – The Hotel

Febri’s Hotel & Spa is along the main road through Tuban, more commonly called South Kuta, which is part of the most popular region in Bali.

It is one of few smaller and mid-priced hotels among a region dominated by mega resorts.

The hotel is small, so it’s easy to get around, and the staff is more personable.

The main pool is a very good size, considering there are 2 pools and not that many guests.

There is enough natural shade at the main pool.

A second pool at the back of the hotel grounds is quieter and more popular with families.

The waiting room indicates the size and elegance of the hotel spa.

The playground at the hotel is unlikely to excite too many children.

The spacious hotel restaurant offers a wide selection of meals.

Many of the larger Family Rooms are at the back of the hotel, further from the main road.

Standard Rooms are in a block facing the pool.

Rooms along the top floor will be quieter.

All rooms are spacious and feature an understated décor (and the cutest towel origami).

Guests can dangle their feet at the Ocean 360 Beach Club at the back of Discovery Mall, 500m north of the hotel.

Less than 150m south of the hotel is Bebek Tepi Sawah, renowned for its bebek (duck).

At ground level in Lippo Mall, about 300m south of the hotel, is the elegant Kafe Batan Waru.

Alongside the Batan Waru, Ganesha serves up exquisite Indian cuisine.

Just a few meters from the Batan Waru and Ganesha is the Bali Fish Market, the place for seafood.

Lippo Mall is home to an impressive food court, with all sorts of tempting options.

The multi-level Discovery Mall is Kuta’s second-largest and only 500m north of the hotel.

Beaches at Tuban are hit-and-miss: non-existent near the Discovery Mall, and often gray and gritty elsewhere.

All beaches are open to the public, and the finest stretch of sand near Febri’s is in front of the Bali Dynasty resort, about 300m away. Check rates and availability: Febri’s
