Based in a historical bank building in the city center, Treasury on Collins features old-world style, historical elegance, and well-furnished apartments and suites with kitchenettes.
Treasury on Collins Apartment Hotel – Exquisite and stylish, with a history and charm lacking in modern high-rises.
Easy to miss on a corner in a fashionable section of the city center, this award-winning hotel is very likable and quite unusual: it’s based in a handsome nineteenth-century bank building and offers apartments and suites rather than rooms. Within the original Heritage Wing or newer Plaza Building, each accommodation is ‘boutique’ (meaning compact), but there’s still space for a separate (often sunken) living area, decent kitchenette, and a clothes washer/dryer. Ideal for families and long-stayers, the apartments are larger and offer better views. The hotel retains its original structure, so windows are small and views are unremarkable, but it’s all about the old-world charm, genuine history, and excellent inner-city setting. What’s more, all guests have access to a delightful mezzanine-level guest lounge.

Treasury on Collins Apartment Hotel – The Hotel

The boutique Treasury on Collins Apartment Hotel is based within one of several historical buildings in a fashionable part of the city center.

On a corner in downtown, The Treasury on Collins is very convenient to amenities and public transport.

The entrance to the hotel is very easy to miss; Heritage-listing precludes any large signs.

Based in a beautifully-restored bank building, the forecourt (converted to a separately-owned bistro) is enormous. This photo was taken from the mezzanine-level guest lounge within the hotel.

At the back of the forecourt is the unassuming reception area.

A welcome attraction is the Treasured Guest Lounge on the mezzanine level above the forecourt of the building. The lounge is open to all guests and offers complimentary snacks and drinks all day.

Not normally included in the rates, breakfast is served at the guest lounge.

Guests can use computers in the lounge area for free.

On the mezzanine level above The Bank bistro/bar, the exquisite lounge is open to all guests.

There’s also a pool table in the guest lounge at the hotel.

Throughout the hotel are numerous examples of its old-world style and historical elegance.

The hotel offers self-contained apartments and suites, rather than rooms.

All types of accommodations feature separate living areas which are nicely furnished.

Some living areas in the apartments and suites are a few steps down from the bedrooms.

The smaller apartments and suites are compact but still well furnished.

Because the original structure cannot be altered, windows are small, but some views can still be interesting.

All categories of accommodations feature kitchenettes as well as clothes washers/dryers.

The forecourt of the original building in which the hotel is located is taken over by The Bank Bar and Restaurant.

The Bank’s bar at the front of the hotel building offers a wide selection of drinks.

Virtually across the road from the hotel is the Natural History Public Bar. Most tables are within the historical building.

Just steps from the hotel is the enchanting English-style Sherlock Holmes pub.

Downstairs, The Sherlock Holmes pub seems like it’s been transplanted from an English village.

Next to the Sherlock Holmes is the street-level bar-bistro appropriately called Dr. Watson’s Bar.

The hotel is in a quieter part of the city center, but there are plenty of nearby amenities for tourists, residents, and workers.

Not as hectic as other parts of the city center, the section of Collins Street in front of the hotel is pleasant for strolling.

The main shopping precinct in the city center is Bourke Street Mall, 2 blocks north of the hotel.

Trams frequently shuttle along the street in front of the hotel. Services are free within the city center.

A few minutes south of the hotel, this section of the scenic Yarra River is dominated by the extraordinary Crown Casino complex.

The cheapest way to travel between the airport and hotel is by SkyBus.

More direct between the hotel and airport is the Starbus shuttle service. Check rates and availability: Treasury on Collins Apartment Hotel
