The Ovolo Woolloomooloo is housed in a renovated waterside warehouse with colorful and spacious rooms and an excellent indoor pool with jacuzzi.
Ovolo Woolloomooloo – A personality-plus hotel along a renovated wharf in the city center.
Lovingly restored and almost resembling a maritime museum, the lounge/lobby of the Ovolo is instantly likable with colorful chairs and contemporary art. All rooms are designed within the old waterside buildings, so they feature the original beams and walls as well as ironwork along the ceilings. The ‘Deluxaroo’ rooms are airy and very colorful. The narrow Loft features a separate lounge area at the entrance level and two bathrooms, and can be easily converted for family use. Because the hotel is long and narrow, all rooms have views of the harbor as well as the city skyline or some naval ships. The indoor pool is inviting and lined with cabanas. An easy walk away is Kings Cross (for nightlife), but it’s further on foot to the city center via the magnificent Royal Botanic Gardens.

Ovolo Woolloomooloo – The Hotel

The Ovolo Woolloomooloo hotel is based in a renovated warehouse on Finger Wharf, along a narrow bay between the Royal Botanic Gardens and the upmarket suburb of Potts Point.

The renovated Finger Wharf contains the hotel and numerous private apartments.

The renovated Finger Wharf contains the hotel and numerous private apartments.

The entrance to the hotel is truly impressive.

The extensive lobby contains a lounge area and café, and almost resembles a maritime museum.

The atrium which runs through the middle of the building is home to the lobby, bar and café.

The old warehouse that houses the hotel has been beautifully renovated.

The indoor swimming pool is impressive and far better than most.

All ‘Deluxaroo’ Rooms are stylish and comfortable, often maintaining the design and layout of the original building.

The twin-level Loft is popular for small families.

The Loft suites feature a comfortable lounge area at the entrance level.

Some of the rooms are particularly stylish and colourful.

In keeping with the funky personality throughout, all rooms are brightly decorated.

Each room oozes with personality, like the entire hotel.

The furnishings in the Loft Suite are bright and match the overall vibe throughout the hotel.

All rooms offer lovely harbour views, either across to the Botanic Gardens or the naval area around Potts Point.

With most rooms facing either side of the wharf, the views are always good.

Views from the rooms are of the city skyline with the Botanic Gardens in the foreground (to the west) or the high-rise apartments of Potts Point and its naval dockyards (to the east).

Numerous classy cafés are lined along the wharf, many under the hotel.

Several cafés along the wharf, such as Kingsley’s, offer a bright décor and tasty seafood.

A delightful walk (about 1.5km) through the Royal Botanic Gardens leads to the famous Sydney Opera House.

Heading 500m south along Dowling or Brougham streets is Kings Cross, a rather seedy area of nightclubs and bars.

In Kings Cross, there are some nicer sections along Victoria Street, which heads north almost to Cowper Wharf Road and the entrance to the hotel.

Kings Cross has a well-founded reputation for sleazy nightclubs and strip joints.

From the northern part of the Royal Botanic Gardens, about 700m from the hotel, it’s easy to see the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. Check rates and availability: Ovolo Woolloomooloo
