Luxury Paris hotel in the 16th

Incredible Eiffel Tower view from the Shangri-La Hotel in Paris’ 16th arrondissement.

The Shangri-La Paris, once the residence of Napoleon Bonaparte’s grandnephew, is an historic five-star stunner of a hotel with phenomenal Eiffel Tower views. Celebrating its aristocratic roots, most rooms are fashioned in a 19th century Empire style, with neoclassical furnishings and tones of blue, white, and ecru. Many of the rooms contain luxurious marble bathrooms and king sized beds, with modern touches like flat-screen TVs embedded into the bathroom mirror or an in-room Nespresso machine for making coffee. Sitting just across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower, views are phenomenal. The historic salons, with their gilded gold leaf ceilings and imperial insignias, have been officially registered as historic monuments and contain some Bonaparte family originals. Notable dining options include the two-star Michelin L’Abeille and Europe’s first Michelin starred Chinese restaurant Shang Palace, which serves the best Peking duck in Paris.

Shangri-La Paris – The Hotel

Shangri-La Paris is located on a beautiful tree-lined avenue, just on the eastern edge of the city’s 16th arrondissement.

This historic building is the former residence of Napoleon Bonaparte’s grandnephew, Prince Roland Bonaparte, and is suitably elegant.

Stately touches are visible everywhere you look, from the ornate floors,

staircases, and statuary…

…to charming old-world fireplaces…

…and stained glass accents.

La Bauhina restaurant is located on the hotel’s main floor, just off of the reception area, under a beautiful glass cupola.

La Bauhina serves French and Southeast Asian fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a vegan afternoon tea on the weekends and Sunday brunch.

L’Abeille restaurant is one of the Shangri-La Paris’ two Michelin-starred restaurants. L’Abeille is two-starred; Shang Palace, the hotel’s Cantonese restaurant, has one star.

L’Abeille offers French gastronomy in an elegant and airy setting, with large windows…

…that look out onto the hotel’s beautiful garden courtyard.

The decor in L’Abeille is plush and traditional, with many mirrored surfaces to enhance the natural light from the garden.

Le Bar Botaniste, the hotel’s nature-inspired cocktail lounge, is open from 6 pm until 2 am daily.

On weekdays, an 100% vegan tea is served in the lobby lounges from 3-6 pm. (Reservations recommended.)

The Shangri-La is less than a minute from the Place d’Iéna roundabout, where many of the area’s most important avenues converge. Just to the left of the statue of George Washington on a horse, you can see the beautiful rotunda of the Guimet Museum – the National Museum of Asian Arts.

It’s also less than a minute’s walk from the hotel to the Iéna Metro station, which services the #9 line.

The Trocadéro’s fantastic Eiffel Tower views are an easy 3-minute walk west.

Opposite the river from the Trocadero (crossing on the Pont d’Iéna) is a popular spot for catching Seine tour boats. This is one from Vedettes de Paris. 11-minute walk.

A 3-minute walk east of the hotel will find you at the Palais de Tokyo exhibition space…

…with Palais Galliera – the City of Paris Fashion Museum, just across the street.

From the hotel, a 14-minute walk east, parallel to the river, will take you to Avenue Montaigne’s luxury fashion houses like Louis Vuitton…

…and Dior.

A great fine dining option nearby is L’Oiseau Blanc, the Michelin-starred rooftop restaurant at the Peninsula Hotel, a 12-minute walk north.

For a more casual, yet still elevated option, head 9 minutes northwest for Wagyu beef hamburgers at Baagaa.
