Sofitel Nusa Dua Beach Resort – Convenient and family-friendly, with contemporary elegance.
All rooms and suites here feature stylish modern décor with a corner sofa, marble bathroom (some with a second TV), and balcony/veranda with a rocking chair overlooking the gardens and/or pools. Some feature private pools. Others flank the massive lagoon-shaped pool, and those at ground level have direct access from the patio. The gardens are comparatively modest but still immaculate, and shady lawns creep right up to the beachside path that meanders through Nusa Dua. The Sofitel caters well for families, with a Kids Club providing ample activities, and a spotless beach protected by a reef which makes the water shallow and calm. One of the pools has a fun waterslide; another features a swim-up bar. Adding to the overall appeal is its proximity to Tanjung Benoa, thereby offering a wider selection of shops, cafés, and water-sports.

Sofitel Nusa Dua Beach Resort – Local Transport
- Walking & Cycling: It’s often a lot quicker – and certainly more scenic – to walk along the beachside path than the main road through Nusa Dua. This road is flat and comparatively quiet, making it ideal for cycling. Ask the reception about renting a bike.
- Public Transport: In lieu of any public transport or shuttle buses around Bali, the Kura-Kura Bus company links Nusa Dua with Ubud and the rest of southern Bali, but schedules are convoluted and routes confusing.
- Cars, Motorbikes, & Taxis: To go anywhere within southern Bali, metered taxis are abundant, cheap, and comfortable. For longer distances, charter a car with a driver for a negotiable fare. Driving a car is not recommended anywhere in Bali; however, motorbikes are a fun and easy way to get around Nusa Dua and neighboring Tanjung Benoa, but not elsewhere in southern Bali. All transport options can be arranged at the resort.
- Local Shuttle Buses: Free shuttle buses link major hotels in Nusa Dua with the Bali Collection mall (see below). This is also a great way to reach other resorts, beaches, and facilities in Nusa Dua and Tanjung Benoa.
Sofitel Nusa Dua Beach Resort – What’s Nearby?
Best Nearby Restaurants & Bars
- Manarai Beach House – Chic, separately owned, and accessible from within the resort. Featuring ideal beach frontage and 2 gorgeous pools, it’s very popular for cocktails, meals crafted by a Michelin-rated chef, and live music nightly.
- Otherwise, there is not a great choice within walking distance, except for cafés/bars in nearby resorts: e.g. the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel (100m south via the beachside path), which has the Tamarind Mediterranean Brasserie, and the The Westin (another 100m further south along the path) with the elegant Prego.
Many guests jump on the free hourly shuttle bus offered by the Bali Collection mall. Among the many wonderful choices, there are:
- Coco Bistro – One in a popular chain, serving an extended menu including Chinese food and several desserts. Pleasant courtyard setting.
- Verdant Organic & True Food Kitchen – Charming décor and healthy cuisine from across Indonesia.
- Frangipani Bali Restaurant – Quiet and colorful position for ribs, grills, and lobster. Also, a children’s menu.
Shops
- A 2-minute walk (200m) north up the beachside path, the lane alongside the neighboring Club Med resort is lined with stalls selling cheap souvenirs and clothes. Otherwise, get the shuttle bus from the resort to Bali Collection, a delightful outdoor mall in Nusa Dua, with department stores, cavernous souvenir shops, and abundant cafés/bars.
Sofitel Nusa Dua Beach Resort – The Hotel

The Sofitel resort is in the spacious and tranquil area of Nusa Dua, one of the most popular tourist regions in southern Bali.

The Sofitel is one of many 4 and 5-star resorts within the gated complex of Nusa Dua.

Often the quickest – and certainly the most scenic – way to get around is along the beachside path that stretches the entire length of Nusa Dua.

The massive Sofitel resort features a more contemporary design than most rivals in the region.

Some rooms and suites face the ocean but most sea views are distant.

The chic layout continues throughout the resort.

The Sofitel faces a wide and clean beach with calm water which is perfect for swimming.

The resort provides plenty of lounge chairs for guests on the beach in front.

The main pool is substantial enough to feature ‘islands’.

Another resort pool is more suitable for children.

The swim-up bar alongside the main pool offers plenty of seats in the water.

The kids club is unusually divided into 3 separate age groups, and offers activities for those older than 12.

Facing the resort beach is the inviting Toya Beach Bar & Grill.

Another of the resort’s restaurants, Cucina specializes in Italian cuisine.

Seating at the Cucina spills out onto the shady terrace.

Rooms and suites are in modern buildings facing the sea, though many views are partially blocked by trees and/or affected by distance.

Many rooms at ground level feature patios that lead directly to the main pool.

All rooms and suites are spacious and feature a modern décor.

A popular feature of the rooms and suites is the marble bathroom.

Some suites feature corner living areas.

Balconies are compact but provide decent views of the gardens and/or pools.

Bali Collection is a delightful outdoor mall accessible by shuttle bus.

Coco Bistro is a popular and colorful café at Bali Collection.

Frangipani is another inviting cafe within the Bali Collection mall.

With organic ingredients and cuisine from across the Indonesian archipelago, Verdant Organic & True Food Kitchen in the Bali Collection mall is unique.

About 600m north of the resort via the beachside path, Tanjung Benoa is a resort region famous for water sports. Check rates and availability: Sofitel Nusa Dua Beach Resort
