Establishment Hotel – A trendy, historic, and convenient hotel.
Built within a renovated century-old warehouse down a quiet lane, this chic boutique hotel maintains some old-world charm, despite all the mod-cons and contemporary décor. The rooms have been built within the original structure, so each features exposed beams and rustic ceilings with a different layout and individual décor. The Penthouse has a bathroom on the entrance level behind a revolving door, and a bedroom upstairs with brown beams, a black rug, grey headboard, and white curtains. All furnishings are ultra-modern. The more modest Establishment Room has a subtle decor as well but is spacious enough for an extra single bed. The overwhelming advantage is the excellent inner-city location, away from the main road.

Establishment Hotel – The Hotel

The hotel is based within an old warehouse along a laneway which is a little hard to find (and poorly signed) from George Street.

From the outside, it doesn’t look like a hotel, but blends in very well with the architecture of this historical area.

Part of the hotel building that faces busy George Street, the classy and popular Establishment Bar offers excellent meals in a very pleasant and historic setting.

The Establishment Bar features an indoor beer garden and is famous for its extended bar top made of marble.

All rooms are spacious and feature a contemporary design.

The bedroom is part of the open-plan layout.

Most rooms are narrow, with an open-plan layout, but fairly dark inside.

All the bathrooms are delightful and not cramped.

The Penthouse is spacious enough for a lounge area.

The marble bathroom in the Penthouse is particularly lovely.

One of the main thoroughfares through central Sydney, George Street is lined with numerous old buildings that have been wonderfully restored.

Head down south along George Street for about 800m to the Queen Victoria Building, home to an array of elegant boutiques and bistros.

Heading south along George Street for about 20 minutes is Paddy’s Markets, a huge indoor collection of stalls selling anything and everything.

Plenty of people shop for bargains at Paddy’s Markets, which is also close to Chinatown and Darling Harbour, another very popular shopping precinct.
