The opulent Langham offers spacious and elegant rooms close to the city and The Rocks.
The Langham – A refined and charismatic hotel with a suburban feel.
Almost lost among rows of renovated townhouses, this boutique-style hotel offers peace and solitude. But The Rocks, a historical area packed with bars and cafés, is only ten minutes on foot, and a path from the hotel winds past renovated wharves to the base of the iconic Harbour Bridge. Spacious enough for two doubles, the Deluxe Rooms feature pastel colors and modern art. Bonuses are the large TVs, coffee machines, and plentiful storage space. The Langham also offers a decent gym, a huge spa, and a large indoor pool. Staying or not, certainly pop in for a spot of High Tea at the famed Palm Court café.

The Langham – The Hotel

The Langham is located along Kent Street in an area of townhouses, but within a short walk of the city and The Rocks, an historical area of cafés and shops.

The Langham is just west of the Cahill Expressway. Reaching the attractions in the city centre, such as Circular Quay and The Rocks, involves a short walk through tunnels under this multi-lane road.

The lobby area is welcoming, and furnished with old-world charm.

Next to the hotel lobby, the Palm Court café is renowned for its High Tea, served each afternoon. Bookings are recommended.

All rooms are substantial and feature stylish furnishings to match the old-world charm of the hotel.

The Deluxe Rooms are elegantly furnished, but views from the smallish windows can be underwhelming.

From the hotel, it’s only about 400m (via the tunnels under the Cahill Expressway) to The Rocks, the original site of old Sydney town.

The historical Rocks area is home to numerous quaint cafés and shops, and is particularly busy on weekends when street markets are held.

Not far from the hotel, The Rocks is home to many renovated old buildings along cobblestone lanes.

Many of the historic buildings around The Rocks have been converted into lovely cafés and bars, such as the Caminetto, popular for pasta and pizza.

With so much history and so many superb views of the harbour, it’s easy to spend hours wandering around The Rocks.

One of the many cafés in The Rocks area is the Munich Brauhaus, with a true German flavour in food, beer and live music.

Built in the 1840s, but now very trendy, The Orient is one of several pubs that claim to be Sydney’s oldest.

The famous Sydney Harbour Bridge dominates the skyline in most directions, and starts at the end of the Cahill Expressway, about 700m from the hotel.

Inner Sydney is blessed with an extraordinary harbour. This can be explored on a cruise or ferry trip from Circular Quay, which is easy to find about 600m east of the hotel.

One of the city’s most famous sights is the Sydney Opera House, accessible from Circular Quay along a 500m path.

The ‘sails’ of the Sydney Opera House dominate the skyline across the harbour. The best views are from the ferry to Manly Beach, which leaves about every 30 minutes from Circular Quay. Check rates and availability: The Langham
