The London borough of Chelsea sits beside the River Thames in South West London. It’s an affluent neighborhood with pretty gardens, superb dining, art galleries, and a mix of independent and designer shops, bars and restaurants.

Chelsea attractions include the Physic Garden which was founded for medicinal plant study, the famous Saatchi Gallery, and the National Army Museum which showcases historic artifacts from 1600 onwards.

Harrods luxury department store is a short walk from Chelsea in neighboring Knightsbridge and the popular Victoria and Albert Museum and Natural History Museum can also be easily accessed on foot.

Restaurants in Chelsea range from Gordon Ramsay’s French haute cuisine and grill restaurants to upscale gastropubs and eateries serving Mediterranean, American and Japanese food. There are also deli’s, cafes, juice bars and bakeries along Kings Road and Fulham Road.

Chelsea hotels are a mix of 5-star luxury and boutique hotels set inside historic townhouses. Airbnb also offer a selection of stylish apartments, studios, and room rentals in and around Chelsea.

Chelsea is very walkable, but if you wish to venture further afield, Sloane Square and South Kensington Underground Stations are close by. There are also regular buses operating throughout Chelsea to numerous points around central London.

To get from Chelsea to Gatwick Airport, take the underground from Sloane Square to Victoria to catch the Gatwick Express train. To Heathrow, the easiest route is via the Piccadilly Line from South Kensington which transports you directly to the airport. Alternatively, travel via the Circle Line from Sloane Square to Paddington Station to catch the faster Heathrow Express train. King’s Cross/St. Pancras train station can be reached via the Piccadilly Line from South Kensington.
