This graceful 1920s-style hotel in the far quieter eastern end of the Old Town is one of the best options for families in Hoi An. Split-level rooms and suites are all fairly similar inside, differing primarily in views: river, gardens, or pool. Many have connecting doors. Cooking classes, free bicycle rental, and proximity to the traditional market along the riverside path are other pluses. The delightful courtyard pool has a special splash area for kids, and a pleasant stretch of lawn is home to a small library and kids’ activities, such as lantern-making, dance, and yoga.

Located between the beach road and the river in Cua Dai, Hoi An Beach Resort has stylish rooms overlooking the impressive river and gardens. There are two pools and a lovely breakfast café, a (non-spectacular, but serviceable) public beach across the road, a reading area and billiard room, and activities such as cooking, language lessons, and kayaking. The kids’ club is one of the better ones around, but is unsupervised and only for toddlers. Old Town Hoi An is only six kilometers by taxi, and easy to reach by bicycle.

La Siesta provides a variety of spacious rooms, suites and villas in a charming rural setting. Elegant Deluxe Rooms have a marble bathrooms and balconies with rice-field views; many have connecting doors. Villas overlook the marvelous infinity pool, and have private terraces with jacuzzi, or a private sauna and garden; those on the top floor have two bedrooms on separate levels. Tropical-style freshwater and saltwater pools have kids’ splash areas attached, and there are planned activities (like cooking classes), a games room, and private beach access. Located on the remote edge of Hoi An, but Old Town is less than 10 minutes by taxi.

With an elegant Old Town design, this hotel maintains a pleasing blend of old and new Vietnam. All rooms feature balconies overlooking the quaint courtyard garden, pool, busy road, or quieter backstreets, so choose carefully. Some rooms have connecting doors, and the family rooms contain two extra singles or twin bunk beds. Other attractions include cooking classes, free bicycle hire, and private beach access. The pool (with splash area for the younger ones) is lovely, but the kids’ club – though colorful – is airless and unsupervised. Located about 15 minutes on foot from the Old Town.
