The fabulous Geros Tou Moria Greek taverna is located in beautiful Plaka and offers great food and views of the Acropolis.
Geros Tou Moria is named after a Greek General, Theodoros Kolokotronis, who led the Greek War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire. His nickname was geros tou Moira (the old man from Moira, an area of the Peloponnese). This 90-year-old family-friendly Greek taverna is spread across 2 buildings in Plaka and offers an affordable and fantastic Greek menu comprising meat, seafood, and vegetarian options. 2 brothers – Pandeli and Stefanos – have been running this place for the past 50 years. The atmosphere and service are friendly and casual, and there’s live music every evening. Reservations recommended.
