The Old Tavern of Psarras in picturesque Plaka first opened its doors in 1898 and welcomed celebrities such as Lawrence Olivier, Vivian Lee, and Graham Greene, to name a few.
The romantic and family-friendly Old Tavern of Psarras in Plaka is over a century old. The Psara family lived in the building and ran the tavern for 3 generations before Mr. Stathokostopoulos bought the restaurant in 1998. The original Mr. Psara fled the political turmoil in Constantinople to the US where he worked several jobs, including theater, and made several celebrity friends. When he returned home and opened his restaurant, his celebrity friends visited him and ate here, making it very popular. The traditional Greek menu consists of several delicious meat, seafood, and vegetarian options at affordable prices, and the staff is very welcoming.
