  1. Hotels with Swimming Pools on Khao San Road

Dave, you write that Buddy Lodge is the only hotel on the Khaosan Road with a pool. In fact there are three others: Khaosan Palace, D&D, and Dang Derm. Check them out on Google earth!

Cool. Thanks for the info. Yes, that area is changing rapidly and adding many 3-star+ hotels.

  2. Tulum Luxury Hotel with Pool

Hi Dave. My name is Mary Abigail “Abby” Gilkey. I have traveled to Mexico 15+ times, usually staying in Cancun. I’m taking my daughter (18) and her friend in March for a trip. I’m thinking Tulum would be nice as it sounds like it has a laid back atmosphere. I generally stay at 5-star resorts, so I believe a “luxury” hotel would be preferred. What would you recommend? We’d like to find accommodations that are literally on the beach. I realize several properties have King Beds only and therefore would be fine with renting an additional unit for my daughter & her friend. I would also like to be on a nice beach. Restaurants and bars within walking or biking distance would be a plus. A nice pool would be preferable, but not necessary.

Ana y Jose is both a great hotel and probably the closest to the type of 5 star resort you’re accustomed to (though still with that Tulum laid back service and vibe). It has a small pool and great spot on the beach.
