  1. Portland Hotel Good for Kids

We are 80+ grandparents who want to bring our three grandchildren for a weekend overnight stay where they can enjoy being with us plus having a pool & a little kitchen for breakfast. I would like to know the price of just one night. And…do they honor AARP cards?

A lot depends on where in Portland you’d like to stay, as well as when. Downtown hotels will cost $250-$400 per night in the summer, when Portland tourist season is at its peak. The further you get from the downtown core and the summer months, the cheaper your stay will be. Hotels near the airport can often be booked for around $100/night during the rainy season of November-March. All of the hotels I’ll mention offer a discount to AARP members.

If you’d like to stay near downtown, your best options will be the Residence Inn Downtown/Pearl District and Residence Inn Downtown/RiverPlace. Both of these are newer, clean hotels with kitchenettes and swimming pools, and both provide easy access to downtown shops and restaurants.

Outside of downtown, the Oxford Suites – Jantzen Beach is a great hotel that sits right on the Columbia River. It’s got a nice pool/spa, provides free breakfast and evening drinks, as well as a shuttle to the MAX station.

Near the airport, the Residence Inn at Cascade Station, the Country Inn and Suites and Staybridge Suites have clean and comfortable rooms (with kitchenettes and swimming pools) at a reasonable rate. All are located near a MAX station that will take you into downtown.

  2. Finding Kid-Friendly Rentals in Portland

    Love Portland :)

BTW Airbnb is huge in Portland now, might be the best way to find a good place to stay for a family.

Thanks! I personally love staying in hotels and miss the “hotel experience” when I stay in an AirBnb. But to each their own.
