Best place to stay near Pike Place Market.

The Inn at the Market is steps from the shopping, dining, and entertainment of Pike Place Market.

My Tips for Staying in Seattle

1. Downtown Seattle (Central Business District)
Why Stay: You’re in the heart of the action—top-notch restaurants, high-rise offices, and iconic landmarks like the Seattle Art Museum are all here. Walkable to major attractions, including Pike Place Market and the waterfront.
Hotel Vibe: Mostly sleek high-rises catering to business and leisure travelers. The Four Seasons (my favorite hotel in downtown Seattle) brings luxury with Elliott Bay views, while the Charter Hotel (part of Hilton’s Curio Collection) offers modern rooms near key downtown spots. Both hotels have good restaurants.

2. Pike Place Market Area
Why Stay: Immerse yourself in Seattle’s most famous attraction—flying fish, fresh produce, artisan crafts, and some of the city’s oldest eateries. Perfect for foodies and first-timers.
Hotel Vibe: Boutique properties with glimpses of Puget Sound and the market’s bustle. The Inn at the Market sits steps from the stalls and is the only hotel located within the market, while The State blends vintage architectural details with contemporary cool.

3. Belltown
Why Stay: Lively nightlife, trendy bars, and music venues define this walkable district between downtown and Seattle Center. A magnet for young professionals and late-night dining.
Hotel Vibe: Modern, urbane boutique hotels. The Ace Hotel has a hip, minimalist aesthetic, while Hotel Andra offers Scandinavian-chic near top restaurants.

4. Pioneer Square
Why Stay: Seattle’s oldest neighborhood boasts Romanesque Revival architecture, art galleries, and a burgeoning tech presence in historic brick buildings. Great for history buffs or soccer fans (near Lumen Field).
Hotel Vibe: Boutique conversions in century-old structures. The Arctic Club (a DoubleTree by Hilton) showcases a gentlemen’s club ambiance from the early 1900s.

5. International District (ID)
Why Stay: For incredible Asian cuisine, cultural festivals, and a slice of Seattle’s rich immigrant history—Chinatown, Japantown, and Little Saigon all converge here.
Hotel Vibe: Few large hotels; expect modest inns or short-term rentals. It’s ideal for travelers seeking a less-touristy vibe, close to King Street Station and downtown on foot. The Silver Cloud Seattle Stadium is steps from both Lumen Field (Seahawks games) and T-Mobile Park (Mariners games).

6. Capitol Hill
Why Stay: The epicenter of Seattle’s nightlife, LGBTQ+ scene, and arts culture. Think independent bookstores, craft cocktail bars, and vibrant music venues.
Hotel Vibe: Primarily short-term rentals, B&Bs, and a few boutique hotels. The Gaslight Inn is a historic bed & breakfast with a cozy vibe (some rooms share a bathroom), while an array of modern apartments cater to travelers wanting a local-living experience.

7. First Hill
Why Stay: Nicknamed “Pill Hill” for its hospitals, First Hill mixes healthcare giants with elegant old mansions. Quick link to downtown or Capitol Hill’s nightlife.
Hotel Vibe: Limited large hotels; mostly smaller inns or extended-stay options. The area’s a low-key choice for proximity to major medical centers or quieter nights near the city core. The Hotel Sorrento stands out for its honeymoon charm in a not-so-romantic area.

8. South Lake Union
Why Stay: Home to Amazon’s urban campus and the Museum of History & Industry along the waterfront. A modern district with new restaurants, green spaces, and easy streetcar access to downtown.
Hotel Vibe: Sleek, tech-friendly spots. CitizenM South Lake Union offers a trendy minimalist concept, while chain hotels (Courtyard, Residence Inn) provide practical comfort for business travelers.

9. Seattle Center / Lower Queen Anne
Why Stay: Best for families or cultural explorers wanting walking access to the Space Needle, Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP), and Chihuly Garden and Glass. Festivals often fill the Seattle Center campus.
Hotel Vibe: Mid-range to upscale, focusing on convenience to tourist favorites. Hyatt House Seattle/Downtown sits by the Space Needle, and the Maxwell Hotel charms with bright, artsy décor.

10. Upper Queen Anne
Why Stay: A quieter hilltop neighborhood with tree-lined streets, boutique shops, and a close-knit residential feel. Great views over the city, especially from Kerry Park.
Hotel Vibe: Mostly B&Bs or short-term rentals in historic homes.

11. Fremont
Why Stay: Self-proclaimed “Center of the Universe,” Fremont brims with quirky public art (like the famous Troll), Sunday markets, craft breweries, and a lively local flair.
Hotel Vibe: A handful of boutique properties and short-term rentals. Staybridge Suites Fremont offers comfortable suites walking distance to both Fremont and Wallingford but is on a very busy artery. Airbnb hosts in vintage bungalows deliver Fremont’s funky vibe.

12. Wallingford
Why Stay: Residential charm meets family-friendly amenities—indie theaters, homey restaurants, and close to Green Lake’s jogging paths. Perfect for a relaxed, local perspective.
Hotel Vibe: Sparse on hotels; find cozy B&Bs or rental cottages. Stay here if you prefer tranquil evenings and a quick bus ride to downtown.

13. Ballard
Why Stay: Former fishing village turned hip waterside enclave. Known for its Scandinavian heritage, craft breweries, the Ballard Locks, and a top-notch Sunday farmers market.
Hotel Vibe: Trendy boutique hotels have started popping up. The excellent Hotel Ballard is a chic, European-inspired boutique with a rooftop pavilion. Otherwise, short-term apartments place you in the thick of Ballard’s nightlife.

14. Green Lake
Why Stay: Its namesake lake is ringed by a popular walking/biking trail, perfect for joggers or picnickers. Easy drive or bus to downtown, but more suburban serenity.
Hotel Vibe: Limited lodging—mostly residential rentals, B&Bs, or budget motels on nearby Aurora Avenue. Ideal for outdoor lovers wanting an urban escape.

15. University District (U-District)
Why Stay: Lively student area near the University of Washington, cheap eats, indie shops, and seasonal Cherry Blossom displays on campus. Saturdays feature the city’s longest-running farmers market.
Hotel Vibe: Mid-range chain hotels or dorm-like stays. Graduate Seattle stands out for its collegiate-themed décor, while budget-friendly motels cater to the student crowd.
