Giorgio Hatter in Athens

The Polychronopoulos family of Kalamata has a long history of hat-making. The family’s original hat-maker, George Polychronopoulos, started the family business, which at that time mostly supplied children with hats for their school uniforms. 2nd-generation milliner Elias Polychronopoulos relocated to Athens in 1978 and opened his shop at the current location. Today Mr. E. Polychronopoulos’s children Giorgios (George) and Vasiliki (Vicky) are the 3rd generation to carry on the family-run business and are in the shop daily to help customers find the perfect hat.

Giorgio specializes in original straw Panama hats, straw fedoras, wide brim sun hats, newsboy caps, and fabric caps. Women’s and men’s options available; children’s hats can also be custom-made, usually for baptisms. The shop is open year-round, and online shopping is available. Located in the Monastiraki area of central Athens, at the corner of Voreou and Athinas Streets, a 250 meter walk from Monastiraki Square and metro station.
