Bloomsbury is a historic, residential neighborhood with literary heritage and several interesting museums, stylish cafes, and hotels. It’s a relaxed, friendly, and safe neighborhood to walk around with leafy parks, pretty architecture, and quiet residential streets. Fitzrovia is just to the west and feels slightly trendier.

The world-famous British Museum is in Bloomsbury – home to the Rosetta Stone and Parthenon Marbles. The museum offers free entry to main exhibits and is open almost every day of the year. The nearest underground station is Russell Square. From here you can easily travel to Covent Garden shops and restaurants, Leicester Square’s West End theatres, and Piccadilly Circus.

Restaurants in Bloomsbury include Italian, Japanese and Thai, plus you can find several traditional pubs and fast food eateries around Tottenham Court Road (10 minutes from Russell Square).

Getting to Gatwick from Bloomsbury: Take the Victoria Line from Warren Street Underground Station to London Victoria. Regular trains operate from here to London Gatwick Airport with a traveling time of around 40 minutes.
