Greenwich is a relaxed neighborhood in South East London, home to beautiful parks, museums, a colorful market, and several historic treasures.

Main highlights include the National Maritime Museum, the impressive 19th century ship Cutty Sark, Royal Observatory Greenwich – home to the Meridian Line, the Peter Harrison Planetarium, and the Emirates Air Line (cable car across the Thames).

Reconnect with nature at Greenwich Park, a vast green space overlooking the Royal Observatory and the City of London skyline, or browse Greenwich Market with stalls selling antiques, arts, crafts and delicious street food.

It’s a convenient place to stay if you’re planning to see a concert, sporting event, or festival at the famous O2 Arena in the center of Greenwich.

Dining in Greenwich is a fun, interesting experience. There are street food stalls serving everything from Caribbean to Vegan food and cafes and traditional pubs serving good old-fashioned British fare. You’ll find pie shops, fish and chip shops, Japanese and Italian restaurants, all of which are laid-back and reasonably priced (especially compared to central London restaurants).

Hotels in Greenwich are budget to midrange. Airbnb flats and houses are well represented in Greenwich.

If you’re flying in and out of London Gatwick Airport, you can reach London Victoria station for the Gatwick Express train on the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) via Lewisham.

To get to London Heathrow on the fast train, take the Jubilee Line from North Greenwich Underground to Baker Street and change to the Bakerloo Line for London Paddington. To reach King’s Cross/St. Pancras also take the Jubilee Line but disembark at Green Park and change to the Victoria Line. Alternatively, taxis and buses are available throughout the area.
