Mykonos Beach Hotels – My Advice

• The “Direct Access” Rule: There are hundreds of hotels in Mykonos with “beach” in their name, but only a handful are actually directly on the sand.
• My favorites that are truly beachfront:
  • Santa Marina (Ornos): One of the most exclusive hotels on the island and has its own fully private beach. Ultra-luxury.
  • Branco Mykonos (Platis Gialos): Chic, 5-star boutique luxury right on the water. Great music, comfortable sunbeds, and a high-energy vibe.
  • Mykonos Blanc (Ornos): A stunning white-on-white boutique hotel located steps from the water. Stylish, intimate, and perfectly positioned in the curve of Ornos bay.
  • Mykonos Blu (Psarou): A gorgeous resort perched on the hillside just above the famous Nammos beach club. Note: It is not level with the sand; it requires a walk down steps to reach the beach.
• Choosing Your Beach Town:
  • Ornos (Best for Families): This is the most complete beach town. It has a protected bay (calm water), tons of restaurants right on the sand, supermarkets, and frequent buses to Town. It is lively but family-safe.
  • Platis Gialos (Best Hub): The best jumping-off point. It is the main dock for the Water Taxi, meaning you can easily hop to Paradise, Super Paradise, or Elia beaches for the day and be back for dinner.
  • Elia (Best for Quiet Luxury): If you want to escape the crowds, stay here. It is the longest sandy beach on the island. The vibe is relaxed and sophisticated, dominated by the excellent Myconian Collection resorts (like the Imperial).
• When to Go: The beach season runs from late May to early October.
  Tip: The sea is warmest in September. May and June are sunny but the water can be brisk. July and August are peak party season and very expensive.
• The Water Taxi Advantage: If you stay in Ornos or Platis Gialos, you don’t need a car to see other beaches. The water taxi runs hourly along the south coast, connecting:
  Ornos ↔ Platis Gialos ↔ Paraga ↔ Paradise ↔ Super Paradise ↔ Agrari ↔ Elia.
