Mykonos Beach Clubs – My Tips

  • If you only do one organized activity when you’re here, make it a Mykonos boat tour. For first-time visitors, it is the most effective way to see the “real” island beyond the overpriced sunbeds.
  • Best Hubs for Beach Lovers. My favorite beaches to stay at are Ornos and Platis Gialos. While neither hosts the high-wattage, celebrity-heavy beach clubs, they are the most strategic hubs on the island. Both are connected by the Mykonos Water Taxi to the famous party spots like Paraga, Paradise, and Super Paradise.
  • Sunbed Pricing and Rows. Expect to pay significantly for sunbeds. Prices are almost always determined by the row’s proximity to the water. The front row is the most expensive and can range from €50 to €500 or more at high-end spots like Nammos or SantAnna. In July and August, prices are at their peak. Always confirm if the price is just for the rental or if it includes a credit toward food and drinks.
  • The Minimum Spend. Many of the top-tier clubs require a minimum spend in addition to the sunbed rental fee. This means you must commit to spending a certain amount on lunch and cocktails to keep your spot. Be very clear about what is included when you book.
  • The 4:00 PM Shift. Most beach clubs start the day as mellow lunch spots with chill lounge music. Around 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM, the atmosphere shifts dramatically. The volume increases, DJs take the stage, and the “beach day” turns into a “beach party.” If you want a quiet day of swimming, arrive early and plan to leave by late afternoon.
  • The Water Taxi Logistics. This is the best way to navigate the south coast. An All-Day Pass costs €20 (cash only), allowing you to hop on and off at seven different beaches. Service usually starts around 10:00 am. Note that the last boats return from Elia and Super Paradise around 6:00 pm; if you miss them, it’s either a bus or an expensive taxi back to town.
  • Reservations are Mandatory. For Scorpios, Nammos, or SantAnna, you must book weeks in advance for peak season. Many clubs use WhatsApp for bookings, which is often more effective than their official websites. If you want a specific sunset spot at Scorpios for their Sunset Ritual, treat it like booking a headline concert.
  • Dress Code Expectations. During the day, high-end swimwear and linen cover-ups (the “Mykonos chic” look) are standard. However, if you are heading to a club like Cavo Paradiso late at night, the vibe is more hardcore clubber. Jackie O’ is unpretentious and welcoming, but still polished.
  • Hidden Costs. Look out for towel rental fees and the high price of bottled water. A large bottle of water at a beach club can cost €10 or more. Some clubs also charge a cover fee for late-night DJ sets even if you have been there all day.
  • Transport Logistics. Taxis are notoriously difficult to find on Mykonos, especially when the clubs close. Use the club shuttles if they are offered, or stick to beaches like Ornos and Platis Gialos where the public bus service to Mykonos Town is frequent and reliable.
  • Swimming Realities. Not all party beaches have great swimming. Ornos Beach is the best for actual swimming because it is sheltered from the north winds. Beaches like Super Paradise can get choppy when the Meltemi winds kick up in mid-summer.
  • Drag Shows and Sunset Rituals. Some clubs offer specific entertainment that shouldn’t be missed. The drag shows at Jackie O’ usually start around 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM and are a highlight of the island. The Sunset Rituals at Scorpios are legendary but extremely crowded; you will need a reservation just to get into the lounge area.
  • The August Crowd. If you visit in August, be prepared for shoulder-to-shoulder crowds. The experience is much more relaxed in late May, June, or September. During peak season, the island’s infrastructure is pushed to its limit, so pack your patience for service and transport.
