The huge, luxurious, and family-friendly Ritz-Carlton has a magnificent setting – sloping down from a cliff right up to a gorgeous beach.
Ritz-Carlton – Impossibly immense and implausibly luxurious, with vast beach frontage.
The sheer opulence and utter extravagance commence at the lobby which is perched on a cliff. From there a ‘window lift’ hurtles down to sea level, where the spread of villas among lush tropical gardens is so extensive that guests wait for transport to their rooms at the ‘Buggy Meeting Point’. The superlative Cliff Villas with pools are designed like New York apartments, with every inch modern and lavish; even a TV above the jacuzzi. Suites in the four-level block are comparatively modest, with those at ground level having direct access to the infinity pool from their patios. The resort caters extremely well for families and is connected by shuttle bus to Nusa Dua with its cafés and mall.

Ritz-Carlton – The Hotel

The swanky Ritz-Carlton resort is located south of Nusa Dua, in a more isolated and underdeveloped part of southern Bali.

The grounds of the Ritz-Carlton are substantial enough for guests to require golf buggies.

The resort is modern and inviting. The lobby as well as many facilities and rooms are on a cliff, while most villas are at sea level.

The main pool is beautifully positioned facing the ocean.

The pools are large enough to feature ‘islands’ of palm trees.

The pools are multi-tiered, with areas for children and shade for everyone.

The beach is not as attractive as those in Nusa Dua, and the waves can be rough at times.

There are always plenty of lounge chairs facing the ocean for sunbathing.

The shopping arcade in the resort contains boutiques and a minimart.

Raku is a lounge bar offering Japanese food.

Another place to enjoy a drink is the Ritz-Carlton Lounge & Bar.

Suites are in a block reasonably distant from the sea.

Villas are luxuriously appointed, with chic furnishings and contemporary décor.

The desk is positioned behind the bed, ensuring both receive maximum possible sea views.

In front of the bed, and also sharing the magnificent views, is a sofa.

Some villas boast a jacuzzi, also offering views of the ocean.

Suites on the ground floor have direct access to part of the main pool from the patios.

Villas are brightly furnished with a contemporary décor.

Bedrooms in the suites are reasonably spacious.

Suites are further from the ocean, but most still provide excellent views from broad balconies.

About 1 km up from the main resort gate, a modest cluster of shops contain 3 eateries, a spa, and a grocery store.

Among the cluster 1 km from the hotel gate is a warung (food stall) offering traditional padang food.

Near the warung, and a more palatable choice, Rantun’s Place offers simple and affordable meals.

Bali Collection is a lovely outdoor shopping center in Nusa Dua, accessible by hotel shuttle bus.

One of many places to eat at Bali Collection, Frangipani features a charming courtyard setting.

Also at Bali Collection, the popular Coco Bistro offers a huge array of delicious meals.

Within Bali Collection mall, Verdant Organic & True Food Kitchen provides healthy Indonesian food from across the archipelago. Check rates and availability: The Ritz-Carlton
