Greece › Serifos Hotels

The beach of Livadakia in front of Coralli Seaside Resort – the best beach near Livadi and the port.
- The island’s villages are small and atmospheric. Most activity is centered in the bustling port of Livadi or the dramatic hilltop Chora, while inland hamlets like Panagia and Galani offer quiet glimpses into traditional agricultural life and historic Byzantine churches.
- Serifos has over 70 sandy beaches. Most remain wonderfully undeveloped, providing a raw, natural landscape that is becoming rare in the Cyclades. Psili Ammos and Ganema are standouts, but you will often find smaller coves entirely to yourself if you are willing to drive or hike.
- The island feels like a time capsule. This western Cycladic gem is often compared to Mykonos in the 1970s. It retains an authentic, rugged charm and a bohemian soul that hasn’t been smoothed over by mass tourism.
- Accommodations are boutique and independent. You will not find any all-inclusive or sprawling luxury resorts here. Instead, the island offers small hotels, traditional guesthouses, and stylish villas that blend into the rocky landscape.
- Access from Athens is fast and efficient. Serifos is one of the closest Cycladic islands to the mainland. High-speed ferries from Piraeus can get you to the port of Livadi in about two hours, while the larger conventional ferries take around four to five hours.
- The pace of life is intentionally slow. This is not an island for those seeking high-energy beach clubs or all-night partying. It is a place for long lunches, quiet afternoons, and breezy evenings in the hilltop Chora.
- Dining is a major highlight. Restaurants on Serifos are plentiful and consistently high quality. You will find excellent traditional tavernas in Livadi and Chora serving local specialties like marathokeftedes (fennel fritters) and sun-dried octopus.
- Chora is one of the most stunning in Greece. Perched high above the harbor, the main village is a labyrinth of whitewashed houses and narrow alleys leading up to a Venetian castle. It offers some of the best sunset views in the Aegean.
- A rental car or scooter is highly recommended. While there is a local bus connecting the port to Chora and a few popular beaches, having your own wheels is the only way to explore the island’s remote western and northern coastlines.
