  • Trendy, fun hotel with great caldera views.
  • Just openend in late 2016. Everything is fresh and new.
  • Located in quiet area – restaurants of Imerovigli are a 15 minute walk away.
Location of Cavo Tagoo in Santorini.

Cavo Tagoo is the first set of buildings visible on the right. The view from Cavo Tagoo looks into the caldera and north towards Oia (visible in the distance). The footpath between Fira and Oia runs directly in front of the hotel.

Review of Cavo Tagoo Santorini

One of the newest Santorini resorts Cavo has a stunning infinity pool, spacious private suites (all facing the caldera), and spectacular sunset and sea views. All suites have a private hot tub or plunge pool. The bar-restaurant area (just behind the pool) is one of the funnest and most social scenes of any hotel. Not a lot immediately nearby but there is a bus stop right at the hotel front door (buses running to Oia and Fira about every 20 minutes) and Imerovigli is a stunning 15 minute walk along the caldera.

Good Restaurants Close to Cavo Tagoo: Athenian House (best view, 15 minute walk) • Mezzo (15 minute walk) • Avocado (wonderful local food and open for lunch, 12 minute walk) • Anogi (15 minute walk)

– Suites come in nine different styles and levels of luxury. Ranging in size from 41 sq. m to 119 sq. m.
– Some suites have Jacuzzis while others have private pools
– Suites are: Executive Double; Junior Suite, Suite; Senior Suite, Family Suite, Pool Suite, Honeymoon Pool Suite, Diamond Pool Suite; Suite with pool
– All suites are exceptionally comfortable and uncluttered
– Satellite TV and Wi-Fi in every room.
– Ovac Restaurant on site (Ovac is simply Cavo back to front). Offers Mediterranean fusion cuisine. Vegetarian menu choices. Good for receptions and parties.
– Brilliant main infinity pool
– Various activities organised by management: yacht cruises, winery visits, airport transfers. Parking easy to find nearby (unusual for most Santorini hotels).
– Advantageously close to Imerovigli, but far enough away to feel uncrowded

4 Questions and Comments

  1. Privacy at Cavo Tagoo

    Hi Dave,
Reading some reviews on Cavo Tagoo, several people have stated that there is a lack of privacy in the rooms. Looking to book the Diamond Suite. Is it private? Would you recommend another hotel that offers private pool? West East?
    Thank you,Suze

Hotels in Santorini are not endowed with a ton of privacy. Rooms are generally packed together pretty tightly. That’s the rule and the norm unless you’re away from the main towns. With that in mind, suites at Cavo Tagoo have moderate privacy where you feel comfortable in your own space with your own private plunge pool or jacuzzi. But it’s not walk-around-naked-on-your-patio privacy. Other guests and passersby can easily see into your patio area.

  2. Caldera Hike from Cavo Tagoo

We’re staying at Cavo Tagoo for three nights and are trying to fit in a wine tour, boat tour, some pool time, and some portion of the Fira Oia hike that you recommend. It looks like Cavo is about half-way between Fira and Oia. Which way would you suggest we hike: to Oia or to Fira? Which way has better views and more interesting scenery?

The views in either direction are great but if you have to choose I’d walk in the direction of Fira. The walk from Cavo Tagoo to Oia will be similar to the view you have from your hotel. Whereas the walk from Cavo to Fira winds through the villages of Imerovigli and Firostefani, and has views of the volcano – which will feel quite different.
