Vassaltis Vineyards in Vourvoulos, Santorini.
A relatively new winery on the Santorini scene (opened in 2016), Vassaltis Vineyards is modern and laid back, with views of the water – but not the caldera. It is owned by the family that owns the luxury boutique hotel, The Vasilicos, in Imerovigli. Open daily from April to October, Vassaltis specializes in the indigenous white grape varieties of assyrtiko, aidani, arthiri; and the red grapes of mavrotragano and mandilaria. There is a range of tasting options, depending on whether you prefer a food pairing or a winery tour. Daily tours are led at 3pm. Reservations are highly recommended, but drop-ins will be accommodated; email or phone ahead to book.
There is a great restaurant on site, serving excellent seafood, vegetarian, and meat options, as well as traditional Greek menu items. Private car or taxi is the recommended way to arrive at Vassaltis Vineyards, as there are few buses that travel through Vourvoulos per day. Parking is available on site.

Vassaltis Vineyards Santorini
Vassaltis Vineyards is one of Santorini’s newer wineries, located near the village of Vourvoulos.
The vibe of Vassaltis is clean and modern, with a nod to traditional Cycladic architecture.
Vassaltis features a unique indoor/outdoor tasting room. The design is spare and relaxed.
Inside, there is a viewing platform, from which guests can overlook the winery’s operation.
Outside, there are beautiful views across the countryside to the Aegean Sea.
The outdoor seating area at Vassaltis is well shaded to provide protection from the sun on hot days.
Accordion-style doors can be closed to protect the indoor tasting room on colder or rainy days.
Vassaltis’ wines are created using the indigenous white grape varieties of assyrtiko, aidani, arthiri; and the red grapes of mavrotragano and mandilaria. There is a range of tasting options, depending on whether you prefer a food pairing or a winery tour. Daily tours are led at 3pm.
This is the winery’s barrel room.
All wines, as well as other merchandise, can be purchased at the winery shop to take home.
Vassaltis Vineyards is located just east of Vourvoulos village, near the new road that runs along the east side of the island. As there are few buses that pass the village daily, accessing the winery by bus is not recommended.
There is a small parking area next to the winery.
Vassaltis Winery is also just a 5-minute drive from Vourvoulos Beach and To Limanaki beachfront taverna.
